What is The Psychologically Minded?

Welcome to The Psychologically Minded—a wild dive into a few of life’s mysteries.

This newsletter is penned by me, Mackenzie Amara, Jungian analyst & clinical psychologist in training, among other things…

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us — don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
- Emily Dickinson

I write at the intersection of analytical psychology, psychedelia, embodiment, mysticism, & trauma recovery. I’m obsessed with the ‘why’ of human behavior & the ‘how’ of religious experience. Sometimes I share me, sometimes I teach you, mostly I’m just along for the ride.

It is my hope that in writing this newsletter, I can elevate my thinking, foster community, & contribute something using the gifts I’ve been given.

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious” (CG Jung).

Why subscribe?

Because you love to ponder reality. Because words arouse you. Because you too were hurt by people who were supposed to love you. Because you’ve seen the abyss & its seen you. Because you’re into having more experiences of gnosis. Because you want to learn more about psychology. Because you dream. Because something says “do it.”
